We are delighted to announce that Accent MEH has been awarded an Erasmus Plus Grant for over 122,000 Euros for their Music Exchange and Cultural Learning Alliance (MECLA) project which will run over two years from September 2017. The project aims to look at current Music Education strengths across three partner countries (the UK, The Czech Republic and Denmark) in order to undertake research and produce resources that can improve standards, develop accessibility, extend engagement and influence policy and practice in all three countries.
UK partner organisations are Accent Music Education Hub (responsible for ensuring that all children in the region have access to high quality Music Education), Charanga (who provide an online Music resource available to all schools nationally), Bradshaw Primary School and the Halton and Warrington Music Support Service (provider of whole class, small group and individual Music tuition across the region).
The partners from the Czech Republic are Zakladni umelecka skola Police nad Metuji, the Local Council, and Zahkladni Skola, a Music School, both from Nachod, Warrington’s Partner city in the Czech Republic.
LandsdelsOrkesterForeningen is the Danish partner and they are a National Orchestra Association who work closely with Educational organisations to provide outreach opportunities for Young Musicians.
Music Education Commissioner Janice Pounds is Project Manager. “This is fantastic news for Music Educators in all three countries, especially as so many bids for this grant were received this year. The project promises to bring lots of learning opportunities for Music Education colleagues and Young Musicians locally, regionally and nationally, as on completion of the project the outcomes will be available to all. Transnational planning meetings for this project have already begun and we are all looking forward to seeing what we can learn from each other through observing and analysing best practice.”
