Now in its ninth year, the Feast of Choirs Gospel Concert continues to be one of the highlights of the Accent Music Education Hub events calendar. More than 800 pupils from 24 schools across Warrington and Halton joined in voice over two evenings of celebration at the Anglican Cathedral Liverpool on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 July. Led by lead Gospel Tutor Mel Birkett, and supported by additional Gospel Tutors Alison James, Callum Spiers and Jess Wood, the children performed a wide variety of items from popular classics to traditional Gospel song that they had been learning in schools over the academic year. The impressive venue was packed with an audience of parents, carers, teachers, and VIPs including senior council members and even the Mayor of Halton and the Mayor of Warrington. The performers and audience were also treated to guest performances from CARJ Circle of Voices Gospel Choir, Liverpool, PopVox Choir, Anchorsholme Academy Choir, Blackpool and Singer and Creative Arts Worship Pastor Chip Kendal.
Janice Pounds said “The Gospel Proje
ct continues to enthuse and inspire children and teachers alike, and to have this many pupils performing together as an ensemble is testament to the dedication, hard work and incredible talent that Accent tutors are bringing into schools week on week. What a wonderful performance from all of the pupils - well done!”
