Accent Music Education Hub are delighted to announce that three young Warrington Brass players, all students of Accent’s Brass Tutor Richard Jones, were winners at the Elland Silver Band Slow Melody and Quartet Contest 2017.

Competition regular, Jamie Reid from Lymm High School, won a Third and First place in the Under 14 and Under 16 categories respectively.  Alderman Bolton Primary Pupils also came away with awards in the new Under 13 Novice category, which has been created to support younger players new to competitions.  Daniel Hall came top winning First place in this new category, and Ian Flood won Second place, also being awarded a trophy for being the contest’s youngest entrant at just 9 years old!

Accent’s Strategic Lead, Janice Pounds said: “Competitions provide real motivation for students and we are delighted that so many Brass pupils from our region are starting to enter when they are so young. Their achievement is testament to their dedication and hard work, and to the quality of Music Education that takes place in our schools. Many congratulations to you all!”
