Three times a year, pupils from whole class projects, small group teaching, ensembles and individual lessons that are led and directed by Accent Music Education Hub Brass Tutor Richard Jones come together at St Andrew’s Church in Orford to take part in one of the friendliest and most intimate concerts of the Accent Calendar.
This year’s Summer Brass Concert was yet another shining example of how much progress Mr Jones’ pupils have made. With performances from the Accent Community Wind Band, the Primary School Brass Ensemble, Harmonix Vocal Ensemble and the Culcheth High School Music Ensemble, the audience enjoyed an array of pieces of various musical styles and learned lots of interesting facts from compere Mr. Jones.
Solos were performed by Romero Manfredi on trumpet, Amelia Stuart on Cornet, Samay Prakash on Drums, Annie Stuart on Cornet, Eliza Fox on Trumpet and Jamie Reid on Euphonium, all of them deserving the rapturous applause given by the audience.
Janice Pounds, Strategic Lead and Arts Adviser for Accent Music Education Hub, said “The technical skill and tonal delicacy from performers was a clear testament to the outstanding achievements of young players in our region, we are very proud of the progression of our students led by Tutor Mr. Jones”.
Awards were also given to Amelia Stuart for Best Brass Player, to Ffion Church for Most Improved Brass Player and to Lilly Church for Best Wind Player. Congratulations to all on an excellent evening’s entertainment.
