The Accent on Singing Showcase took place again this year at The Brindley Theatre in Runcorn on Monday 14 March. Barrow Hall Community Primary, Ditton Primary, Hill View Primary, Oakfield Community Primary and Runcorn All Saints CE Primary joined together in voice to perform to a sold-out venue!
All schools performed together under the musical direction of Shirley Court, Director of the Hallé’s Children’s Choir, as well as performing pieces individually. Over 140 pupils took part in the evening, which was run in partnership with Edsential. Performers sang and danced with glee, both in unison and in part harmonies, whilst Shirley conducted with aplomb. They were accompanied by live musicians, which enhanced the performance and gave a really unique atmosphere. Alison Corten, Music Service Leader at Edsential, compered the evening and Accent’s Patron Terry Caffrey coerced audience, performers and even The Mayor of Halton into participating as he read one of his poems.
Janice Pounds, Strategic Lead for Accent Music Education Hub said: “Every Music Hub nationally has a responsibility to deliver a vocal strategy, and Edsential have been leading Accent’s Vocal Strategy this year. Singing is a real gateway to developing children’s musical knowledge and understanding. It’s such a pleasure to hear so many young voices singing together, and to share in such an enjoyable performance. Well done to all the schools who participated in this concert.”
